About

Hidden Meaning Productions was founded in 2013 by Scottish Director/Writer/Producer Chris Fallen to develop and produce moving image works in the fields of fiction, factual and promos.

Already a qualified Marine Engineer, Chris left the shipyards of the River Clyde behind and changed career paths in 2003, moving on to study film and television.

By 2012 he held a BA (Hons) in Digital Film & Television from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, an MA in Screenwriting from Screen Academy Scotland and an MFA in Advanced Film Practice (Directing), also from Screen Academy Scotland.

His early short dramas were well received, garnering increasing critical success.

His first short A Cheeky 20 won the Under 5 Mins category at The Smalls Short Film Fest 2010 and was subsequently picked up at Clermot-Ferrand Short Film Market by Eurochannel.com, who licensed the film for two years and broadcast it across four continents.

His follow up short Green built on this success and was nominated for two BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards in 2012 in the Best Actor (Alex Millan) and Best Editor (Chris Fallen) categories; screened as an Official Selection at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2012; and was nominated in the Best Short Drama category at The Celtic Media Festival 2013.

Since graduating from Screen Academy Scotland in 2012 Chris has worked extensively in the community arts sector in Scotland, teaching the craft of filmmaking to young people and underrepresented groups who otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to access these opportunities.

In tandem with this community arts work Chris has been honing his own craft on short and long form projects, mainly as a self-shooting producer/director, most recently on the long form documentary Sitting Tight: The Story of the Lee Jeans Sit-In for Rig Arts, Greenock, the short form documentary Misconception for CVS Inverclyde and the short form drama Heartache Souvenirs, also for Rig Arts.

Chris is also currently developing a slate of film and television drama and documentary projects set predominantly in Scotland.
