A short documentary investigating the stigma associated with drug and alcohol addiction and the harm that it causes in society, focusing on the Inverclyde area of Scotland.
In February 1981, amid fears the Lee Jeans factory in Greenock, Scotland would close, 240 members of staff barricaded themselves inside while negotiations regarding their jobs took place. Making national and international headlines, the sit in lasted for 7 months, during which time the community banded together to support the workers and their families.
This documentary tells the inside story, featuring interviews with key workers, their families and local historians, and incorporates reconstructions of sit in events (scripts written during workshops with Greenock Writer’s Club) and scored with original songs created by Inverclyde singer/songwriters.
A fascinating history of the punk and post-punk/alternative music scene in Inverclyde, Scotland.
